Jim Massara named editor
Jim Massara is the new editor of The News Observer.
Massara brings experience from the Clayton News Daily and a journalism degree from the University of Georgia, along with a host of other qualifications, to the local newspaper.
“Most importantly, Jim brings dedication to the foundation of journalistic principles. Jim is dedicated to getting the complete story, and telling it fairly and accurately,” Glenn Harbison, publisher of the newspaper said.
“The search for an editor has been extensive. We were determined to find someone who would uphold The News Observer’s tradition of reliable reporting. Jim fits that description,” Harbison said.
Massara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia. Since then, he worked as an assistant editor with Marvel Comics in New York, a graphic designer for Atlanta Business Chronicle, a freelance artist/designer/webmaster/writer, and a reporter at the Clayton News Daily.
“In just one week, I’ve seen more warmth and smiles than I can begin to count. My wife and I are looking forward to making Fannin County our home,” Massara said.
