The Copper Basin High School football team had its first chance of 2017 to face off with live opponents as the Cougars hosted Midway for a scrimmage Friday, May 19, in Copperhill.

Martha B. Watson, aged 86, passed away May 21, 2017, at home in Morganton, Georgia, where she lived with her son, John, for the past year. She was surrounded by family from near and far.

Malinda Faith Cornwell, age 49, of Mineral Bluff, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at her residence. 

John Dorsey Cole, age 86, of Ellijay, formerly of Mineral Bluff, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Cameron Hall Assisted Living Facility in Ellijay.
